Did you remember the amazing hike sunday? Its the revisit of the Mckennon trail up Bolinas Ridge, I have a better idea of wherethe tail is, so Lets do it one more time. Last year on this date we lost a hiker....

This was written before we know how mad it was:

Hike this weekend? If you're strong enough.

That Murietta Falls hike was the most difficult day hike ive done. Lets continue.

I was thinking of something very special - nothing steep like this past week (3000 foot gain and not as steep) -- a few secretive trails heading up and down Bolinas ridge surrounding the Audubon Canyon Ranch. Funky animals and plants. There may still be Indians hanging out there.

There are no references to this hike that I can find.

14-16 miles.

3100-foot elevation gain.

So berry, berry early.

The egrets will be nesting.

Starting from Mckennan Gulch Trailhead on Rt1 just North of Stinson Beach - 1700 feet up to the Coastal trail, turn left to intersect Bolinas-Fairfax Road. (3.6 Miles)

(OR start at Larsens Lodge Site on Bolinas Fairfax Rd. if we are all suckers, cutting 7 miles off the hike and making it a bunny hike) Descend 1300 feet into Audubon canyon ranch. Range around, and then head back up the 1300 feet. (3-5 miles)

At Larsen's lodge we head back toward to trailhead, but go past the McKesson Gulch trail (1.9 miles) if possible, to pass Cook's Bench and then to Willow Camp trail (1.1 miles) we see astounding views here (3 miles total)

...A 2.5-mile decent back to the trailhead. (4.4 miles) a 1800 foot decent.

The trailhead:

McKennan Gulch: Take Hwy1 west from Hwy 101. Drive through Stinson Beach town and go 1.5 miles north on Hwy 1 with Bolinas Lagoon on your left. After about 1/2 mile past the Stinson School, start looking for an orange cone by a grove of pine trees on the right (orange cone not available for our hike). Pull in and park.

OR, sneak into the Audubon Ranch for stealing glances at teh birds:

Hike Sunday July 16! Not-so-Mad Bolinas Ridge not-so-scramble (changed date)

Hikes are back -- Bolinas Ridge/Audubon Canyon

MAP: www.nps.gov/pore/pdf/map...th_060101.pdf

I wanna hike this Saturday. And I do think Bolinas Ridge. Be at the trailhead at
11 am. Who wants to come? 8 or 10 miles. Carpool?

Start at the Intersection of Bolinas Fairfax Road and RidgeCrest BLVD, just up from the Larsens Lodge Site on Bolinas Fairfax Rd. Descend 1300 feet into Audubon canyon ranch. Range around, and then head back up the 1300 feet. (3-5
miles) The trail may be closed - do not dispair, we will go another way.

ONE WAY:

At Larsen's lodge we head back toward to trailhead, but go past the imfamous McKesson
Gulch trail (1.9 miles) if possible, to pass Cook's Bench and then to Willow
Camp trail (1.1 miles) we see astounding views here (3 miles total)..and short stroll to Cataract Falls.

THE NEW WAY: Take teh Bolinas Ridge Trail North to McCurdy (3.3) or Randall (4.4) on a level ridge. Then down 1300 feet to the Oema Valley Trail. Lets of neat-o stuff around here. And back up.
